Abstract
A system is described for the screening of magnetic tape recordings of cardiograms with the aid of computers. The computer program was developed with a carefully planned mathematical approach to the problem of wave pattern recognition in general and the cardiogram in particular. The mathematical formulations are tractable, economical, reliable and hence useful. In order to take full advantage of current developments in cardiology the epidemiologist can begin to accumulate magnetic tape recordings of cardiograms from their study populations. Keywords
