Abstract
Ternary uranium compounds UCu 2 Sn and UAu 2 Al have been found to crystallize in the hexagonal ZrPt 2 Al- and orthorhombic YPd 2 Si-type structures, respectively. Magnetic-susceptibility, electric-resistivity and specific-heat measurements reveal that UCu 2 Sn, UPt 2 Sn and UAu 2 Al undergo antiferromagnetic transitions at 16.6, 60 and 25 K, respectively. With decreasing temperature below T N , the resistivity of UCu 2 Sn exhibits a pronounced peak, whereas those of the other two show a precipitous drop. The extrapolated value of C / T at 0 K ranges from 17 mJ/K 2 mol for UPt 2 Sn to 102 mJ/K 2 mol for UAu 2 Al.Keywords
