Abstract
In order to evaluate the paediatric patient compliance to treatment with penicillin mixture, 84 children with respiratory system infections were randomized to treatment with pivampicillin (Pondocillin) mixture with two different flavour additives, cocoa-peppermint and banana. Using a scoring system, the taste acceptability and the easiness of administration were evaluated at the beginning and the end of treatment. While taste acceptability and easiness of administration decreased significantly during the treatment (p = 0.046 for taste and p = 0.049 for easiness) with Pondocillin cocoa-peppermint mixture, only small non-significant differences were noticed during treatment with Pondocillin banana mixture. Keywords
