Abstract
Ultraviolet photoelectron spectra of optically excited states in the band gap of trans-polyacetylene are reported. The data are discussed in the context of theoretical models of optically induced polaron and soliton formation in trans-, and appear complementary to previously reported pulsed optical absorption data.
