Abstract
Acephate was field tested against a population of Choristoneura occidentalis Freeman in the Targhee National Forest of eastern Idaho, July 1976. The insecticide was applied on 12 plots (each ca. 40 ha) by a helicopter using Beecomist nozzles with a WP sleeve when insects were in the 4th and 5th instars. Dosages of 1.12, 0.56, and 0.28 kg AI/ha resulted in 98.8, 93.0, and 77.5% mortality, respectively, at 15 days postspray. Check mortality was 48.3%.
