Abstract
Stationary perturbation theory has been used to calculate the Stark effect in the linear rigid rotor for the case in which the electric energy is large compared with the rotational energy. The method has been checked against the exact energy values, which were calculated for this purpose. Extension of the method to the Stark effect in the general rotor is possible. Keywords
