Abstract
Among 3700 12-lead ecg, 245 showed abnormalities of the TU-U complex consisting of deviation of the T-U segment or negative or diphasic U waves. These abnormalities were found most frequently in hypertension, aortic and coronary disease; they were associated with other abnormalities in 121 cases. A pattern showing positive symmetrical T waves with their descending branch notched by an elevated or depressed T-U segment, followed by negative or diphasic U waves and preceded by a depressed or plateau-shaped S-T segment, may be considered as a minor sign of left ventricular strain if it appears in leads I, AVL or the left precordial leads.
