Impedance of the Li Electrode in Li / Li x MnO2 Accumulators at Open‐Circuit Voltage

Abstract
The impedance of the Li electrode in accumulators is studied at open‐circuit voltage. An unexpected low‐frequency inductive behavior was observed in the impedance spectra. The influence of the state‐of‐charge, storage time, and cycling conditions of accumulators on this inductive behavior is characterized. A simplified model of a corrosion process at the Li/electrolyte interface including multistep cathodic coupled reactions is presented which accounts qualitatively for the inductive behavior observed.
