Genetic Marker Systems in Arctic Populations

Abstract
Populations and families were studied for the distribution of the Ag(x) serum lipoprotein trait. The frequency of the Agx gene was 0.40 in Finnish Mountain Lapps, 0.42 in Skolt Lapps, and 0.61 in Fisher Lapps. The distribution of Ag(x) phenotypes in Finnish Lapps was significantly different from that previously observed in non-Lappish Norwegians. No exception to the postulated, autosomal dominant inheritance of the Ag(x) trait was observed in a study of 109 families.
