Abstract
The density in supersonic flow was measured by the absorption of soft x-rays. The equipment is briefly described. Data obtained in undisturbed flow at M=2.83 are compared with values computed from Pitot pressure measurements. Measurements of the density distribution across a shock wave on a wedge-shaped model are presented. The suitability of the method, its limitations, and improvements of the technique are briefly discussed.
