Abstract
To the Editor: Recently, false-positive results have been found on assays for digoxin in serum samples from infants and patients with uremia who were not receiving digoxin therapy.1 2 3 4 5 Furthermore, discrepancies in digoxin values were observed when different radioimmunoassay kits were used. We wish to report a similar observation in a digoxin assay of plasma from a patient with abnormal serum proteins.A 79-year-old woman, who had been taking digoxin for several months, was admitted to the hospital after a trauma. Results of routine laboratory tests, including measurement of serum creatinine, were normal except for a sedimentation rate of 52 mm . . .Keywords
