G-6-PD Deficiency, Sickle Cell Trait, and Acute Hemolysis After Bronchography

Abstract
Acute hemolysis in a patient with sickle cell trait and glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenase deficiency was observed following a bronchogram with a sulfa-containing medium. We believe the acute episode was precipitated by the combination of hypoxia during the procedure and the ingestion of sulfa compound.
