Abstract
This paper examines the effects of marital status, employment, education, family income, and age on the patterns of alcohol consumption of women and men in metropolitan Boston. Contrary to a sociological model of role conflict, which predicts a set of interaction effects, our analysis discloses only a set of main effects. Keywords
