Abstract
The detn. of plasmal in lipoid mixtures (in contrast to plasmal in the serum) encounters the difficulty that fuchsin-H2SO3 can not be applied in organic solvents but only in aq. solns. with an excess of SO2, in which lipoids or natural fat is completely insoluble. A way out was found by dissolving the lipoid substance or the fat at first in glacial acetic acid, and then treating the soln. with the 10-fold amt. of fuchsin-H2SO3. Under these conditions the lipoid mixture precipitates so finely that it reacts quantitatively within a few hrs. The pigment is then extracted with amyl alcohol and measured colorimetrically.
