Abstract
Various organic derivatives of sepiolite, having > Si CH2CH2C6H5 groups which can be sulphonated, have been synthesized. The -SO3H functions introduced give the solid markedly acid character as shown by its ability to adsorb and protonate organic bases (pyridine), and in the catalytic dehydration of alcohols. The materials obtained have been identified by chemical analysis, IR and 13C-NMR/MAS-CP spectroscopies. Keywords
