Trends Affecting Victoria's Regional Centres

Abstract
The paper examines how structural economic change and recent population trends are affecting Victoria's provincial centres. It also reviews regional policy changes occurring overseas and in Australia and concludes that the days of big spending regional programs are over and are being replaced by State and Commonwealth Government policies that foster local initiatives.
