ACTH Releasing Activity in vivo of a CRF Preparation and Lysine Vasopressin.

Abstract
CRF (corticotropin releasing factor) preparation fraction D (Guillemin, R. et al., Endocrinology 1957 v. 60, 488) stimulates release of ACTH in animals with a hypothalamic lesion or pharmacological blockade, at doses where the pressor equivalents as pure lysine vasopressin are inactive. The hypothysiotropic activity of fraction D observed in vitro is therefore confirmed in vivo and should be attributed to a substance different from vasopressin.
