Abstract
This lecture summarizes a long series of experiments on duration of life in Drosophila melanogaster and in seedlings of Cucumis melo. Duration of life (longevity) of the individual varies inversely as the rate of energy expenditure in metabolism. The faster an organism lives, the sooner it dies. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
