Isolierung des Virus der zentraleuropäischen Zeckenenzephalitis in der Schweiz

Abstract
The first isolation of tick-borne encephalitis virus in Switzerland is reported. The isolation was made from a dog with acute symptoms of a severe central nervous disorder. The histopathological examination of the brain revealed a disseminated, in many areas massive leptomeningitis and encephalitis. The virus isolation was achieved by intracerebral inoculation of white mice with a pool of dog brain material. The virus isolate showed the physicochemical and serological properties of the Central-European tick-borne encephalitis virus.
