Abstract
Chicks kept on a purified vitamin K-deficient diet were fed graded levels of sulfaquinoxaline. Increasing doses of vitamin K-active compounds were necessary to overcome the inhibition of prothrombin formation when the levels of sulfaquinoxaline were increased. The drug was also shown to hasten depletion of prothrombin in chicks receiving a single dose of vitamin K. When a single dose of about 50 mg of sulfaquinoxaline was admin -istered orally with varying levels of menadione, one mole of menadione appeared to overcome the inhibitory effect of more than 800 moles of sulfaquinoxaline. Keywords
