Abstract
The linearized Boltzmann equation with the relaxation model is solved numerically for the gas flow through a parallel micro‐slit under an external potential field. It was found that the mass‐averaged velocity is slightly reduced in the bulk phase, but considerably increased near the solid wall by the presence of the external potential field. As a net result, the total flow is increased considerably compared with the case in which there is no potential field. This extra flow can be interpreted as the so‐called surface diffusion. Keywords
