Abstract
4 modal sequences are descr. Mode O includes the Copper Stage of Pulszky but he thinks it only has a limited significance and is of doubtful relevance to the main sequence. Mode I is comparable to the ''Early Bronze Age'' of Europe. Weapons and ornaments are made from copper and its alloys, but very few are for industrial use at this period. Stone tools, including celts, were still made. In Mode 2 copper and bronze are regularly used in handicraft, but not in husbandry nor for rough work. The metal types include knives, saws, axes, adzes and chisels. Mode 3 includes the use of metal tools for agriculture and rough work. Among these are metal sickles, hoe blades and hammer heads. The Bronze Stage and 2 stages in the industrial use of iron are recognized. Many excellent examples of tools representing the different stages are included in the figures. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
