Interaction of 3',4'-dideoxykanamycin B with a lysosomal enzyme, N-acetyl-.BETA.-D-glucosaminidase.

Abstract
The binding of 3'',4''-dideoxykanamycin B with a lysosomal enzyme, N-acetyl-.beta.-D-glucosaminidase, obtained from rat kidney was examined by affinity chromatography of the enzyme on 3'',4''-dideoxykanamycin B-conjugated Sepharose 4B. N-Acetyl-.beta.-D-glucosaminidase could be adsorbed on the affinity column. The enzyme activity was significantly increased by the addition of 3'',4''-dideoxykanamycin B. These findings indicate that 3'',4''-dideoxykanamycin B does interact with N-acetyl-.beta.-D-glucosaminidase. [This antibiotic has been shown to be nephrotoxic.].
