A COMPARISON OF MANAGERS ENTERING OR REENTERING THE PROFIT AND NONPROFIT SECTORS.

Abstract
This article reports that graduate schools of management and business administration are increasingly attracting more students who view their careers as vehicles for implementing social change. Professionals who choose to use business schools as a power base for societal reform demands have found business firms less compatible with their values than nonprofit organizations. Two other studies were taken to investigate possible similarities between managers entering the profit and nonprofit sectors of the economy. The first study included the sample subjects from 21 states and 17 foreign countries. Eighteen of these students planned to enter or reenter the nonprofit sector after graduating. In the second study, the sample consisted of 94 subjects, 26 of whom were planning to enter or reenter the nonprofit sector.
