Abstract
The Zn2-2xCuxInxS2 solid solution system has been investigated with respect to the emergence of the bandgap anomaly between II-VI and IB-Ill-VI2 compounds. Cation-S bond lengths and bandgap Eg have been determined as a function of the sample composition x. The bond lengths are found to be constant over the whole composition range in first approximation. Band structure calculations were applied to simulate the highly non-linear Eg(x). The appearance of Cu3d states at the top of the valence band was shown to cause this dependence in the course of intermixing. The cation-S bond lengths, however, determine the degree of the bandgap anomaly. Keywords
