Abstract

Summary: Evidence in mouse protective tests is presented which in combination with previously reported tests in the chick embryo demonstrate that the subrace WX of Andrewes and Inman represents a valid dual type of Shigella paradysenteriae (Flexner). In the system of classification according to primary antigens previously proposed, it will have to be designated as type II.VII.
