Abstract
One-dimensional quantum localization of electronic states has been sought in a composite material consisting of small silver particles randomly embedded in a dielectric KCl medium. Near the conduction threshold, the composite behaves like a filamentary network of interconnected wires. The electrical resistance of this composite material has been measured to below 1 mK. No evidence for quantum localization or other nonmetallic behavior was observed. The present measurements suggest that the temperature scale for localization may be lower than previously believed. Keywords
