Abstract
In a young diabetic, experiments show that exercise increases the fall in blood sugar after insulin to nearly double the fall without exercise. Two cases of diabetics on insulin are detailed to show how the accustomed insulin dose must be lowered when unusual exercise is to be taken, if a hypoglycemic reaction is to be avoided. Exercise also burns up the carbohydrate stores so that fasting blood sugar on the day after exercise is always lower than usual.
