Abstract
An experiment tested the hypothesis that alcohol in moderate doses will interact with frustration and increase aggression measured within the Buss teacher-learner paradigm. The hypothesis was not possible to evaluate because subjects developed behavioral strategies to speed up learning by their partners. These strategies, which kept subjects from using high shocks, obscured potential effects of alcohol. The results were discussed in terms of methodology and a need for a modification of the standard learning “cover explanation.”
