Abstract
The corona-discharge method of measuring static charge susceptibility of carpets is used to evaluate the static propensity of fibers in various carpet samples. Triboelectric balancing, addition of internal or external antistatic agents, and inclusion of conductive fibers are suggested as approaches toward controlling problems associated with static electricity accumulation in carpets. Emphasis is placed on the use of conductive filers, and possible mechanisms are given by which conductive fibers reduce static electricity buildup. Keywords
