Abstract
The findings in reviews of faden operations confirm that the procedure will often lead to adhesion of the back muscle surface to the sclera and muscular necrosis or fibrosis. Between 1978 and 1979 a modified faden operation was performed on 136 cases at the Krefeld Eye Clinic. Initial clinical observations seem to indicate that this variation has all the advantages of the faden operation without the risk of extensive adhesion and muscular damage.
