Abstract
The domestic chick less than 2 weeks of age posthatch can learn to solve a problem situation requiring it to leave a clear view of a desired goal in order to achieve that goal. The learned behavior appears to be predominantly age dependent, and strikingly independent of the number of learning trials. The age at which learning occurs is coincident with the age at which gamma-amlnobutyric acid reaches maximal levels in the brain of this animal.
