The author describes a new algebraic treatment of the chain-model eigenvalue problem. It is based on the (2t+1)-diagonal and asymptotically smooth structure of the corresponding Hamiltonians. The formalism is illustrated on the phenomenological doubly anharmonic oscillators. Keywords
