The Trace Element Content of the Newborn Rat (as Determined Spectrographically)

Abstract
Spectrographic estimation of trace elements in normal newborn rats showed aluminum, barium, copper, manganese, strontium, tin and zinc, to be present in all of the animals. Lead and silver were detected in more than half the rat ash samples, Antimony, beryllium, bismuth, boron, cadmium, cobalt, lanthanum, thallium, titanium, vanadium, yttrium and zirconium were not detected in any of the rat samples. It is suggested that the following elements might be transmitted from mother to young—aluminum, barium, copper, lead, manganese, strontium, tin and zinc.
