Abstract
A 30-year-old married female with a history of flight phobia was treated in three sessions with Erickson's hypnotic techniques. Treatment consisted of client description and visualization, under hypnosis, of a future successful flight, training in posthypnotic techniques for self-management and dream induction. The client successfully flew cross-country immediately after treatment, and a six months follow-up revealed that she would not hesitate to fly again on her next vacation. The hypnotherapeutic techniques resulted in a successful flight in fewer sessions than reported behavior therapy techniques; possible reasons for the superiority of hypnotherapy in the treatment of flight phobia were discussed. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
