Abstract
The anthraquinone dreivatives in the Indian Rhubarb have been evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively. They are chrysophanol, aloe–emodin and rhein and are present in the drug both in the free as well as in the combined state. The free anthraquinone derivatives amount to 1.12 %, while the combined 4.5 %, Rhaponticin, Physcion and C–C–glycosides are found absent in Indian Rhubarb. Further, the anthraquinone derivatives are present in the oxidised form. Keywords
