Studies of Mononuclear Cells from Inflammatory Joint Effusions

Abstract
Stimulation of lymphoid cells from inflammatory joint effusions by mitogens provides evidence for the presence of T cells. A small and variable percentage of lymphocites carry surface immunoglobulins which have been detected by fluorescent antibody; this may be taken to indicate B cells. In addition macrophages can be shown by adhesion to glass and uptake of immune complexes.
