Abstract
A special sensor attached to the skin has made possible continuous recordings of blood oxygen levels in neonates, sick infants, parturient women, and even fetuses during labor. The instrument has been used with more than a thousand infants and has been a significant aid in management of neonatal cardiorespiratory problems. It may also prove valuable in other situations, such as myocardial infarction and major surgery. Keywords
