Abstract
Can the alkylaluminum compound in Ziegler‐Natta catalysts be replaced by asi lylaluminum compound? TiCl4/Al(SiMe3)3·Et2O (5:2), for example, has proven to be a suitable catalyst for the polymerization of ethylene. This is the first catalyst in which no transition metal‐carbon but a transition metal‐silicon bond might be present, at least in the first polymerization step.Keywords
