Abstract
Release properties of the copolymers of 2-(1-naphthylacetyl)ethyl acrylate with hydrophilic comonomers of known molecular weight have been studied as a function of pH, composition, comonomer type, and copolymer microstructure. Fluorescence and solid-state 13C-NMR studies have also been performed. Neighboring group effects for the hydrolysis were observed by the concentration of auxin released; the release mechanism differed with the comonomer type. In addition, the release behavior of the ionic copolymers is affected by the presence of intramolecular hydrophobic interactions. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
