Assessment of non-invasive electrocochleography

Abstract
Electrocochleography is used for threshold estimation in difficult children and adults, and differential diagnosis in sensorineural hearing loss. An extratympanic technique [ET] for electrocochleography is assessed. ET is non-invasive, requires no anesthesia and creates minimal discomfort. The CM [cochlear microphonics] recorded by ET seemed to accurately reflect the physiologic potentials generated from hair cell activity.
