Abstract
The North Elgon Depression is a paravolcanic downwarp between the early Miocene volcanoes of Kadam and Elgon. The downwarp is filled with pyroclastic rocks from the two volcanoes. Recent percussion boreholes show lacustrine sediments at the base of the volcanic rocks. The sub-volcanic surface is reconstructed in detail from borehole data and shows the early Miocene topography after modification by paravolcanic warping. The current drainage system is superimposed on that of the early Miocene. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
