Abstract
Reactive hot‐pressing characteristics of boehmite and bayerite were studied with special reference to the microstructural development during sequential transformations to α‐alumina. Dense γ‐alumina loses its translucency when transformed to α‐alumina, due to the formation of pores in the system. Isothermal compaction data during reactive hot‐pressing were interpreted using a viscoelastic model. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
