Abstract
The paper considers the application of the metric ds2=dr2+r2d theta 2+dz2+2 omega r2d theta dt-(c2- omega 2r2)dt2 to a rotating system. The first part of the paper considers the application of radar measurement to the rotating system. In the second part infinitesimal radar measurements are used to show that for an observer at a radius R within a rotating system, similar results are obtained, through the application of the metric, to those which would be obtained by the use of instantaneous rest frames. Keywords
