Abstract
The genus Xiphotheca Eckl. & Zeyh. consists of nine species, all endemic to the Flora Capensis region of South Africa: X. canescens; X. cordifolia, X. elliptica, X. fruticosa, X. guthriei, X. lanceolata, X. phylicoides, X. reflexa, and X. tecta. Morphological, chemical, and cytological characters of the genus are briefly discussed. A cladistic analysis, based on morphological data, shows that there are two distinct groups in the genus. These are described as two sections, sects. Congestae and Xiphotheca. Full descriptions, diagnostic characters, illustrations, and distribution maps of the species are presented. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
