Abstract
AT present the blood ammonia determination is widely used in clinical medicine and research. Various authors have reported enormous differences in the normal range of blood ammonia concentrations with both the Conway1 and the Seligson2 method. Mean values for blood ammonia nitrogen in normal subjects with the Conway technic have ranged from 10.63 to 204 microgm. per 100 ml.4 Similarly, with the Seligson method, wide variations have been reported,2 , 5 6 7 8 9 10 normal limits ranging from 30 to 907 to 90 to 200 microgm. per 100 ml.6‡The determination of blood ammonia is affected by a number of factors, including temperature,1 , 3 the concentration . . .
