On the Ca++-Antagonistic Principles of the Flower Buds ofMagnolia fargesii1

Abstract
The CHCl3 extract of hsin-i (the flower buds of Magnolia fargesii) was found to posses Ca++-antagonistic activity on the taenia coli of the guinea pig. The active compounds were isolated using column chromatography, and identified as two new neolignans, fargesone A and fargesone B, and one known neolignan, denudatin B.
