Abstract
Electromyographic (EMG) examinations were performed twice within 2 wk in the same 41 muscles of 32 human volunteers. Frequency analysis of the EMG signal showed a pathological high-frequency deviation at the 2nd examination in 7 (21%) of the muscles re-examined during the 1st wk. Serum creatine kinase values were higher on the 3rd than on the 1st day in 11 of 13 individuals, but the values never exceeded the upper normal limit. Ten other volunteers were investigated by a single EMG examination followed by a single muscle biopsy. No significant abnormalities were found in the specimens. Owing to the frequency spectrum shifts not less than 2 wk should elapse between EMG examination in the same muscle.
