Abstract
Exploitation of the No. Amer. grasslands was dependent upon several interacting factors the original native animals; the character of the plains habitat and its plant community; and the nature and habits of the white settlers. Man is adapted to and prefers the deciduous forest climate, and in his attempt to settle and industrialize such areas, he has upset the balance of nature. Elimination of the grasses is a natural result of the depredations of the newly implanted fauna. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
