X-ray diffuse scattering from Mg 0.82 Pt(C 2 O 4 ) 2 -xH 2 O

Abstract
X-Ray diffuse scattering studies from the mixed valence 1-D violet magnesiudioxalatoplatinate (Mg0.82 Pt-(C2O4)2-5 to 7 H2 O) have been performed between 77 K and room temperature. The expected enhanced 1-D Peierls-Kohn anomaly is found at the wave vector q c = ± 0.32c* but retains its 1-D character over the whole temperature range. No 3-D ordering of the charge density waves as earlier observed in KCP is found in this compounds.
